Addressing the Barriers to Healing Faith
Many sincere believers struggle with healing because of religious objections that have been passed down through generations. This teaching systematically addresses these barriers to help you build unshakeable faith for healing.
Common Objection #1: “God Uses Sickness to Teach Us”
The Problem with This Thinking:
- Makes God the author of evil
- Contradicts His nature of love
- Ignores Satan as the true source of sickness
What Scripture Actually Says:
- James 1:17 - “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above”
- John 10:10 - The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus came to give life
- Acts 10:38 - Jesus healed all who were oppressed of the devil
Common Objection #2: “Paul’s Thorn in the Flesh”
Misunderstanding: Many assume Paul’s thorn was a sickness God wouldn’t heal.
Biblical Reality:
- 2 Corinthians 12:7 - The thorn was “a messenger of Satan”
- It was given to prevent pride, not to teach Paul anything
- God’s grace was sufficient to deal with the harassment
- Paul received healing for others throughout his ministry
Common Objection #3: “What About Job?”
The Confusion: “If Job suffered, maybe I’m supposed to suffer too.”
The Truth:
- Job lived before the cross and resurrection
- His story shows Satan as the source of calamity
- God restored Job’s health and blessed him double
- We have better covenant promises than Job
Common Objection #4: “Not Everyone Gets Healed”
The Heart Issue: This objection often comes from disappointment or fear.
Biblical Response:
- Isaiah 53:5 - “By His stripes we are healed” (past tense)
- 1 Peter 2:24 - “By whose stripes ye were healed”
- Healing is provided for all, but not all receive
- Our focus should be on God’s provision, not people’s reception
Common Objection #5: “Healing Passed Away with the Apostles”
The Cessationist View: Some teach that miraculous gifts ended in the first century.
Biblical Problems with This View:
- Mark 16:17-18 - Signs follow believers (not just apostles)
- 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 - Gifts are for the whole church age
- James 5:14-15 - Healing prayer for church elders (not apostles)
- Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever
Common Objection #6: “It’s Not God’s Will for Everyone”
The Doubt: “Maybe God wants some people sick for His glory.”
The Biblical Answer:
- 2 Peter 3:9 - God is not willing that any should perish
- 1 Timothy 2:4 - God will have all men to be saved
- If God wants all saved spiritually, why not physically?
- Jesus never turned away anyone seeking healing
Common Objection #7: “Doctors and Medicine Show Lack of Faith”
The Balance: Some go to extremes either way - rejecting all medical help or relying only on medicine.
Biblical Wisdom:
- Luke 4:23 - Jesus acknowledged physicians exist
- Colossians 4:14 - Luke was a beloved physician
- Use wisdom and let God lead
- Medical help doesn’t cancel faith; unbelief does
Overcoming Religious Programming
Steps to Freedom:
- Examine every belief against Scripture
- Choose God’s word over human tradition
- Surround yourself with faith-building teaching
- Practice speaking God’s promises
- Act on what you believe to be true
Building Unshakeable Faith
Foundation Principles:
- God is good ALL the time
- His will is clearly revealed in His word
- Jesus paid for your healing at Calvary
- Faith pleases God and moves mountains
- Your healing glorifies God

Don’t let religious objections rob you of your inheritance. Study these issues for yourself. Let God’s word settle the matter in your heart. Your breakthrough is waiting on the other side of doubt.
Remember: Every objection to healing can be answered by the word of God and the ministry of Jesus Christ.
